About the event
The Beginner's Photography Course will take you from the basic anatomy of a DSLR, through lenses, all elements of the Exposure Triangle, composition, shaping and the colour of light to basic processing and editing skills. By the end of the course you will be able to set up your camera in Manual Mode, set up the studio and create consistently great images. Whilst the course is studio based, the skills you will learn will translate to any field of photography.
The 11 sessions will take place on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.
The first session on 26th September will consist of an introduction to the studio and your Tutor and some admin paperwork, followed by a practical session.
For the rest of the sessions the first hour will comprise of the theory lesson. The second hour will be a practical session, putting your new knowledge into effect. For the practical session you will be photographing either a still life scene or a model. There will be a handout at the end of each class.
Tea, cofee and biscuits will be provided.
You will need a digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with Manual Mode and a hot-shoe fitting and at least one lens. A tripod will be useful for some of the lessons, but we can provide one if required. You will also need a computer or laptop to process/edit your images. We will discuss software during the course, we recommend Adobe Creative Cloud Photographer Plan (we will demonstrate processing and editing using this software), but there are many other systems/apps.
